Strength Coaching for People Who Plan to Train for Decades
Nex offers one-on-one strength and conditioning coaching in North Miami Beach for active adults who lift, run, and train hard, and who want to keep getting stronger without getting hurt along the way.
Every session is coached by Dr. Felipe Castro, a doctor of physical therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, in our studio, at your home or gym in Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Bal Harbour, or online.
Think of it as personal training with a clinician's eye. You're not hurt, you'd like to keep it that way, and you're done with programs that treat your body like everyone else's.
Who Is This For
This is for people who want to train hard and safely, and do it for life.
You're probably a good fit if:
You train three or more days a week and your progress has flattened, even though you haven't let up.
You've followed an app, a template, or a trainer who counted reps, and nobody ever looked at how you move before handing you the plan.
You hurt something years ago, it has “healed,” and you've been quietly training around it ever since.
You want someone to watch your lifts and explain why, not just what.
You'd like the next ten years of training to go better than the last ten.
Start somewhere else if:
Something hurts right now and it's changing how you train. Start with physical therapy, and we'll bring you back here once your body can take the load.
You compete and have a season, a meet, or a return-to-play date. That's sports performance coaching.
You want the cheapest session in town. That isn't us, and we'd rather tell you now.
Dr. Castro has coached people since 2014, most of those years as a personal trainer before he earned his doctorate. So this isn't a knock on trainers. It's what changes when the person writing your program also knows what happens when tissue can't handle the load you're putting on it.
Most programs start with the program. Ours starts with you. Before anything goes on the bar, we look at how you move, where you compensate, what old injuries left behind, and what your body can handle today. The small warnings most people train through get built into the plan instead: the knee that complains at the bottom of a split squat, the shoulder that only speaks up on the last set.
What a Physical Therapist Sees That a Personal Trainer Might Miss
Then we coach it the way rehab taught us to. Regress to progress. When something isn't ready, we back off the one variable causing the problem and keep everything else moving. You don't lose two months to a tweak, and you don't keep grinding the same pattern that caused it.
And if pain does show up, you don't get handed off to someone new. Same doctor, same plan, adjusted that week.
How Strength Coaching at Nex Works
A full assessment first. Your training history, old injuries, goals, and a movement screen, then strength baselines on the lifts that matter for what you do. You leave knowing where you stand and what we're building first.
A program written for you. Built around your schedule, your equipment, and your goal, whether that's a heavier deadlift, a faster half marathon, or finally feeling strong upside down on the silks.
Coached sessions, one-on-one. Every session is with Dr. Castro. He watches your reps, adjusts load in real time, and teaches you what a good rep feels like so you can find it on your own.
Progress you can measure. We retest your numbers and your movement on a set schedule and rewrite the program as you change. If something stalls, we find out why before we add more.
If you're coming to us after physical therapy, this is the Redefine phase of the NEX Performance System: past pain-free and into stronger than you were before.
In the Studio, at Your Home or Gym, or Online
Most coaching happens in our studio at 18384 West Dixie Hwy, Suite D, North Miami Beach, where the racks, bars, and equipment are.
If getting here doesn't fit your week, we come to your home or building gym across Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Bal Harbour, with a travel fee based on drive time.
Online coaching works from anywhere. If you travel for work or live nowhere near Miami, your coaching goes where you go.
Prefer to train entirely on your own? Program-only coaching gets you a program written for your goal, your history, and your schedule, with no scheduled sessions required.keeps your program and check-ins going wherever you train.
Why People Keep Training Here
Frequently Asked Questions
-
A personal trainer usually leads your workouts. A strength and conditioning coach designs your training in phases toward a specific goal, building strength, power, and conditioning over months instead of session to session. At Nex you get both from a doctor of physical therapy who is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, so your program accounts for how your body moves and what it has been through, not just what week three says.
-
Yes. Coaching around an old injury is a big part of why this exists. If the injury has healed but you still train around it, we build it into your program from the first session. If it still hurts or is getting worse, we'll tell you, and we'll start with physical therapy before we load it.
-
Yes, two ways. If you train with us, you get a written program for the days you train without us, and we update it based on what we see in your sessions. If you'd rather train entirely on your own, program-only coaching gets you a program written for your goal, your history, and your schedule.
-
Both. Most coaching happens in our North Miami Beach studio or at your home or gym in Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Bal Harbour. Online coaching works from anywhere, in Florida or outside it.
