Sports Physical Therapy That Fits How You Train

Nex Performance & Rehab is a cash-based, one-on-one physical therapy studio in North Miami Beach, serving Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Bal Harbour in the studio or at your home.

Every session is with a doctor of physical therapy and strength coach who treats lifters, runners, and athletes who plan to keep training while they recover.

What Is Sports Physical Therapy at Nex, and Who Is It For?

Sports physical therapy at Nex means treating the injury and the training around it at the same time. Most people who walk in here are active adults between 30 and 50 who lift, run, roll, or play, and who have something that keeps flaring up.

You're probably a good fit if:

  • Pain shows up in a specific movement. The bottom of a squat, the top of a press, mile three.

  • You've had PT before and it ended with you doing bands in a corner while the therapist worked on someone else.

  • You're coming back from surgery and nobody has told you how to get back to a barbell, only how to get back to walking.

  • You'd rather understand why it happened than be told to stop doing it.

You're probably not a good fit if you want passive care only, or if you're looking for the cheapest visit rather than the fewest visits.

What Most Physical Therapy Misses

Most rehab aims at symptom relief and stops when the pain does. That's why people get better for six weeks and end up right back where they started.

Pain leaving doesn't mean capacity came back. If your body still can't handle the load you want to put on it, the pain isn't gone, it's waiting. We build that capacity underneath the symptom, which feels less dramatic early and holds far longer.

Doing that takes time and attention, which is why we don't bill insurance. Insurance sets the session length, the visit count, and what counts as treatment. Here there's no second patient in the next room. Your session runs the full time with the same doctor, and the plan changes the day your body does, not at the end of a six-week template..

How It Works: The NEX Performance System

  • Reset

A 75-minute one-on-one assessment to find what's actually driving the pain. Not just where it hurts, but what your body is compensating for and what load it can currently handle.

A man sitting on a medical examination table talking to a healthcare professional in a clinic.
  • Rebuild

Programming that restores strength, mobility, and movement quality underneath the injury, built so you can keep training around it instead of stopping entirely.

A woman lying on her back on a therapy table with receiving massage and physical therapy to reduce neck pain.
  • Redefine

The part most rehab skips. We keep going past "no longer hurting" until you're more durable than you were before it happened.

Conditions We Treat

If you're hurting and it isn't on this list, ask. The short version: if it affects how you move, train, or compete, it's worth a conversation.

Low Back and Hip

Disc herniation and bulges, sciatica, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, SI joint pain, facet joint irritation, hip impingement (FAI), hip labral tears, gluteal tendinopathy, and the low back pain that shows up under a bar or after a long day of sitting.

Knee

Patellofemoral pain, patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee), meniscus tears, ACL and MCL injuries, IT band pain, runner's knee, and early knee osteoarthritis.

Shoulder

Rotator cuff tendinopathy and tears, shoulder impingement, labral and SLAP tears, AC joint pain, biceps tendinopathy, shoulder instability, and frozen shoulder.

Neck and Upper Back

Neck pain, cervical radiculopathy (nerve pain into the arm), tension headaches, and the mid-back stiffness that limits overhead pressing.

Foot, Ankle, and Lower Leg

Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, ankle sprains, shin splints, calf strains, and bone stress injuries in runners.

Elbow, Wrist, and Hand

Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, wrist pain in the front rack or press position, and grip-related pain.

Muscle Strains and Training Injuries

Hamstring, groin, quad, and calf strains, pulled muscles that keep coming back, and the tweaks that show up mid-lift and never fully clear.

After Surgery

ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, meniscus surgery, labral repair, and total knee or hip replacement. We pick up where standard post-op rehab stops, and get you back to training, not just back to walking.

Where Sessions Happen

Most sessions run out of our studio at 18384 West Dixie Hwy, Suite D, North Miami Beach. That's where the equipment is, which matters when the whole point is loading you properly.

When getting here isn't realistic, we come to you across Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Bal Harbour, and the surrounding area for a travel fee based on drive time. Some clients evaluate in the studio and do follow-ups at home or in their own gym.

Virtual sessions are available for clients anywhere in Florida.

First Session

Seventy-five minutes, one-on-one, start to finish. No intake tech, no handoff.

We start with the story. What you do, what you're training for, what changed, and what you've already tried. Then a full movement assessment, hands-on work where it's useful, and a first round of loading to see what your body tolerates right now.

You leave with a clear answer about what's driving it, what we're going to do about it, and roughly how long it should take. If physical therapy isn't the right answer for you, you'll hear that too.

Hear From Active Adults Who Move Better Now

★★★★★

"I've dealt with lingering injuries, mobility limitations, and imbalances for a while. I've been to other PTs, who misdiagnosed the issue, treated the symptoms instead of the root cause, and gave very generic programs that never actually fixed anything... His assessment process is thorough and detailed, and it was shocking to realize how far off other PTs had been."

"Nex Performance and Rehab helped me with some back pain after many years of powerlifting. However, they go a step further, whereas other facilities may just attempt to alleviate pain in the problem area, Felipe Castro dots all his i's and crosses his t's by assessing and executing treatment to other affected areas. 10/10 would recommend."

"I use to have on and off shoulder pain for years but after learning about a routine that addressed my deficiencies I've been able to stay pain free for the last 2+ years. I can now play frisbee, ping pong, pickleball and lift without worrying about reaggrevating my shoulder."

"Dr. Felipe Castro helped me tremendously with knee pain during my marathon training... This is not like a typical clinic where doctors only spend a few minutes with you, his approach is truly one-on-one and individualized. He takes the time to get to the root of the problem and make sure you understand your recovery plan."

"I walked into his clinic being scared to move and to use my body. After only 3 sessions I was able to regain confidence in movement and return to my regular activities... he gives us the tools to build resilient bodies even after our sessions are over."

★★★★★

"I've been working with Dr. Felipe for six weeks now and I'm already showing massive signs of healing from my overly tight hips and a couple of injuries sustained from Jiu Jitsu... he is overall an amazing out-of-network physical therapist."
